The following comprise the list of the 5+1 most remarkable Rhodes caves located all over the island, with each one having its own unique characteristics and historical significance.

1. Fourni Caves:
Located on the eastern side of Rhodes, near Monolithos Castle, the caves are found along Fourni beach and are a collection of beach caves some of which were used as burial chambers. There is no signposting, so be prepared to do a little searching around to pinpoint them on your own.

2. Holy Cave of Nymphs:
Located in the heart of Rhodes town, on the northern edge of the Acropolis and to the south-west of the Stoa, the Nymphaea Cave Sanctuary was an ancient place of worshipping the mythical female water sprites. It consists of four underground caverns with grottos interconnected by underground passageways.

3. Koumelou Cave:
This Rhodes cave is located near Archangelos town and is known for its colorful stalactites and stalagmites. Excavations revealed evidence of human dwelling within the cave dating back to the Neolithic and Bronze Ages, while it is also said to have been a place of refuge during the Ottoman occupation.

4. Traganou Caves:
This collection of Rhodes caves is situated near the town of Kallithea and can be accessed either by boat or by a short hike from the nearby beach. Traganou Caves are quite impressive, featuring a series of stunning rock formations and crystal-clear waters. If you’re on a boat tour, you’ll get to explore the narrow passageways as you cruise around waters so translucent, clearly seeing all the marine life happening beneath the surface.

5. Seven Springs Cave:
This natural wonder and tourist attraction in the center of the island is named after the seven springs that flow through it. They originate from the surrounding mountains carrying very cold water even during the hottest summer months. The springs join to form a small lake through the tunnel-cave. The walk around this nature park is very scenic with lush green vegetation, age-old plane trees and the sound of running water all around.

5+1. Cave Archangel Michael Panormitis:
A geological and spiritual attraction in one, the Cave Archangel Michael Panormitis is one of Rhodes’ more peculiar landmarks. It is essentially a small cave within a rock which was turned into a chapel dedicated to Rhodes’ patron and guardian of sailors, St. Michael.
