Celebrating World Tourism Day on Sep 27th, 2024
To Tourism & Peace
World Tourism Day, celebrated annually on 27th September since 1980, is a day dedicated to recognising the vital role of tourism in shaping the world we live in.
It is, essentially, a day that celebrates not only its tourism’s direct effects, such as economic growth, but also and more importantly, its indirect effects – such as fostering global understanding, tolerance and cultural exchange. Established by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), this day is a reminder of how tourism can bring people together, bridging gaps between different cultures and communities, and promoting peace and mutual respect.
The theme for World Tourism Day 2024, “Tourism & Peace,” resonates deeply in today’s world, where the need for harmony and understanding is more crucial than ever. Tourism has the unique power to break down barriers, allowing individuals to experience the richness of different cultures, traditions, and ways of life. By fostering these connections, tourism helps to build a more peaceful world, where diversity is celebrated, and mutual respect is nurtured.
At H Hotels Collection, we are driven by a strong sense of corporate social responsibility and are deeply committed to the principles of Tourism & Peace. Our hotels, one located in Athens city and seven others on the beautiful island of Rhodes, provide a serene environment where travellers can relax and rejuvenate while immersing themselves in the destination’s rich history and culture. Whether staying in Ixia, near the Medieval Old Town of Rhodes, or on the blue-flag beaches of Kiotari and Lardos near Lindos, our guests are offered a unique opportunity to connect with the local culture and the natural beauty of Greece.
We believe that by creating spaces where people from all over the world can come together, share experiences, and learn from one another, we contribute to a more peaceful and understanding world. On this World Tourism Day, at H Hotels Collection we reaffirm our commitment to promoting peace through the power of tourism, offering our guests not just a place to stay, but a place to connect, reflect, and grow in understanding.
