Annual staff seminars, training & education at H Hotels Collection for 2023

At H Hotels Collection, we are whole-heartedly committed to investing in our most valued asset – our people – with annual education and training seminars that take place on an ongoing basis.

Our people are the beating heart behind all for which we stand for. They are those who work behind the scenes and those who you see on the floor, ensuring everything is in place and running as smoothly as can be. They are those who greet you with a genuine, heartfelt ‘Kalimera’, those who ask you how your day was and how satisfying you found your meal, and all those who go above and beyond daily, to put a bright smile on your face. They are our most valued asset and an integral part of the H Hotels Collection family.

To this effect, we take our staff’s development seriously. We carry out regular educational training for each department regarding staff development in the tourism industry. Beyond department-specific trainings, below you will find a list of other training seminars for 2023, the aims of which are manifold; to ensure that all our staff is up to par with the standards expected of them and that they continue to develop their skill set; to ensure that while carrying out their duties, they do so in accordance with optimal Health & Safety in relation to their own well-being and that of others around them.

Here is a summary of the staff training & development that took place or will take place in 2023:

1 || Diversity and Inclusion Training
Date: 8th March 2023

This seminar covered the topics of diversity, equality and inclusion for a positive working environment through a custom diversity and integration strategy that respects different cultures and mentalities. It was run by the civil society organization, Action for Migration & Development (METAdrasi), founded in December 2009, with the primary objective of contributing mainly to areas that have received lower priority by the relevant public bodies.

2 || GDPR
Date: 14th March 2023

Addressed to all partners who have access to company emails, this seminar encompassed staff training and awareness regarding Personal Data protection as one of the main pillars of creating a strong Privacy and Security framework, while at the same time highlighting it is an important measure of compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

3 || Safe at Work
Date: 4th April 2023

ActionAid and Women on Top teamed up with us for an online seminar against sexual harassment within the workplace with the aim of raising awareness and to inform of a reinforced protection mechanism in place. The seminar provided empirical data with regard to the implementation of the corresponding legislation supporting women’s rights, through the promotion of gender equality and the combating of gender-based violence.

4 || Society for the Support of Car Accident Victims
Date: 7th April 2023

Informing our staff about Road Safety and about preventing and reducing traffic accidents, this seminar was held in association with the European Federation of Road Traffic Victims (F.E.V.R.) under the auspices of the United Nations. With a vision of “no deaths on the road”, educating people regarding road safety is increasingly salient as traffic collisions are a general grievance in Europe, including both Greece and Rhodes island.

5 || Prevention, Awareness and Combatting of Child Abuse
Date: 19th April 2023

Child abuse, maltreatment and neglect have been recognized by the World Health Organization as a matter of public health, therefore concern everyone and especially in places where children are present – that includes hotels. This is why there is an immense need to train hospitality staff to this effect. Teaming up with “The Smile of a Child”, this seminar addressed the subject of child protection, offering participants insight into how to recognize a child in danger and highlighting the legal and most efficient ways of intervening.

6 || Train the Trainers
Dates: 12th – 19th December 2023

At the end of the year, we allocate a few days to train the trainers and our heads of department, in order for them, in turn, to properly train their staff members accordingly the following year.
