NEXT TO RHODES MARATHON
Marathon running has come a long way since the first person ran a long distance.
Each person has their own reasons or finds their own motivation in running. The most obvious reasons people run marathons are for positive health and mental well-being. Others are simply ambitious and want to break their personal record. The list goes on and on. What counts in the end is participation.
For this reason, H Hotels Collection has been an active and loyal participant and sponsor of the Rhodes Marathon for years. The Hatzilazarou Group not only stands out for its genuine passion for hospitality and is motivated by a culture of excellence, but is also an avid supporter of the local community and local organizations.
The Roads to Rhodes Marathon is the official marathon held annually on the island of Rhodes. It has been held since 2014. Three glorious personalities, George Zaras, a Greek-American expatriate from Rhodes, Marietta Papavassiliou, the president of the organizing committee and American super athlete and author Wayne Kurtz designed the current coastal marathon route. This route has become the benchmark for the running community and at the same time embodies the unique cultural and natural environment of Rhodes Island.
Regrettably, the marathon was postponed until 2021 due to the Covid 19 pandemic. This was a very worrying situation not only for the local community but also for the worldwide running community. But everyone did not give up hope and after 2 years, the 7th Roads to Rhodes Marathon will be held on April 10, 2022.
We are proud to be a valuable sponsor in this annual sporting event. This is just one of many other events we support. Since the beginning of 2021, we have also supported other local organizations, such as the International Rhodes Cycling Race, which took place in March this year.
