An inspiring vision between two islands
Supporting Charalambos Taiganidis in his attempt to motivate the world.
H Hotels actively support the efforts of incredible people in achieving visions that have a positive impact, either on individuals and communities or on the environment. We will always continue to support visions that are both inspired and inspiring, visions that encourage us to reclaim the willpower to do good and prove that anything is possible, if we are motivated enough and have a solid support system in place.
The vision
The inspiring vision of Charalambos Taiganidis, a Special Olympics Swimming Gold medalist, took place between two islands, and was about achieving the unachievable – to complete an open water swim between Rhodes and Symi.
This kind of swimming challenge has never been undertaken by anyone with impaired abilities or disabilities before and there is great symbolic value in accomplishing this feat, both on a personal level – to fulfill the ambition he set for himself – but also on a community level – to motivate the world and show that no obstacle is big enough to stop us from achieving our goals.
The action
The event, which took place on 6-8 November 2022, was ardently supported by H Hotels’ Corporate Social Responsibility outreach activity. H Hotels, as fervent advocates of such inspiring individuals who set their minds on seeing through such challenging feats, were by his side, taking an active part in making this vision of his a feasible reality.
Since we believe that actions speak louder than words, we provided Taiganidis’ team all the necessary supplies and tools in order to realize this vision. Furthermore, our support extends beyond this feat, by also contributing to the effort of raising funds for the purchase of guide dogs for people with special visual needs.
