Sponsoring & Supporting Rhodes\u2019 communities<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Sunday, November 5, all of Rhodes came to attend the annual “Rhodes for Life” event for the 14th consecutive year. It is an annual walk that aims at raising funds for the common good of the community, with a focus on better medical equipment for cancer patients at the island\u2019s general hospital.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Rhodes For Life 2023, saw dozens of volunteers, associations, unions, businesses, schools and individuals of all ages and from all walks of life, joining forces to raise awareness and funds towards this goal. Rhodes\u2019 Town Hall square was truly overwhelmed by thousands of people donning their sky blue t-shirts with personal messages on the back, ready to\u2026walk, run, exercise and engage with each other\u2026for Life!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\u201cRhodes For Life<\/a>\u201d by AMKE is not just another community support event. It has evolved into an institution and tradition for the island of Rhodes, the participation of which far surpasses any other such event at regional level. Consider that the first event ever counted 1,500 participants that grew steadily year on year to reach approximately 15,000 in 2022. Each year has a different goal, towards which people give their support by participating and buying that year\u2019s t-shirt.<\/p>\n

Last year, the goal to raise funds for the purchase of a portable Ultrasound Tomograph for the Interventional Radiology Unit was achieved. The acquisition of this machine is particularly important for oncology patients, as it is used in conjunction with the central chemotherapy devices.<\/p>\n

This year, the goal is to raise enough funds for purchasing a Fibroscan machine, which is linked to the prevention of hepatocellular carcinoma. This piece of equipment that aids in preventing or suppressing cancer is bound for the Pathology clinics of G.N. Rhodes Hospital, and costs around 64,500 euros.<\/p>\n
